NFPA Safety Inspections

NFPA Certified Chimney Sweep

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code 211 recommends that every home’s chimney inspected once each year. One of the leading causes of home fires and other accidents is the home’s fireplace. An improperly maintained chimney can let carbon monoxide and other gases into the home, and can also let water into the home which can damage the framing and walls of the home. In the worse case scenario, a badly damaged chimney can cause a fire. Needless to say, the small cost of a yearly chimney inspection can go a long way to ensuring the safety of your home and its occupants.

Chimney Champs offers chimney safety inspections that comply with NFPA code 211. We offer three different levels of chimney safety inspections, depending on the client’s needs:

  • NFPA Level I Chimney Safety Inspection Scope: Readily accessible areas of chimney, structure, and flue; check for obstruction or combustible deposits in flue, basic appliance installation and connection.
  • NFPA Level II Chimney Safety Inspection Scope: All subjects of a Level I inspection; check for proper construction and condition of accessible portions of the chimney structure and all enclosed flues; check for proper clearances from combustibles in accessible locations; check size and suitability of flues for connected appliances.
  • NFPA Level III Chimney Safety Inspection Scope: All subject of Level I and Level II inspections; check for proper construction and condition of concealed portions of chimney structure and enclosed flues, check for proper clearances from combustibles.
